Has anyone had to put a parent in isted living? How did you?

handle it? How did they handle it? We just put my mother in law in an isted living 1 week ago. She broke her hip on July 5th, and also has dementia, so we decided the best thing to do is to put her there. Living at home was no longer an option. She seems like she's losing her will to live. She's quiet, and depressed. Is this normal for her to act like this? I wish so bad that we could let her go home. She doesn't ask to go, but I know how I would feel if I were in her shoes. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
